High atop a granite ridge overlooking Upper Rideau Lake and the Village of Westport, Foley Mountain offers 10 km of trails through an expansive rugged wilderness, its famous Spy Rock lookout, a natural swimming area, picnic areas and education facilities.
Trails
Foley Mountain boasts 10 km of trails ranging from an accessible walk to the famous Spy Rock lookout to more rugged loops through the property’s granite-studded forests high above the Village of Westport. Foley’s 400-metre Mobility Trail starts at the Interpretive Centre and includes a story trail to keep younger visitors engaged. Trails are particularly busy during the fall, when visitors flock to the mountain to enjoy the fall colours and view from Spy Rock. Trails are open year round, however they are not maintained in the winter and may require snowshoes to pass.
Beach
Foley Mountain offers a quiet sandy beach on the shores of Upper Rideau Lake to enjoy the view or take a dip in the crisp lake water. The beach is not supervised by a lifeguard. Dogs are not allowed. Beach parking is located at the Interpretive Centre, and requires a moderate 400-metre walk to the shore.
Picnic Shelter
A picnic shelter is located at the group campground and may be reserved in advance for a fee. Otherwise, it is first-come, first-served. Please note it is often used by the outdoor education team during the week for programs such as school trips, Forest School or summer day camp. Individual picnic tables are also available at the Interpretive Centre and the beach.
Rent a Facility
Foley Mountain offers facility rentals for its interpretive centre, group campsite and picnic shelter.
Outdoor Education Programs
Foley Mountain offers outdoor education programming year round to groups of all ages.
