April 23, 2019 – Rainfall amounts close to 50 mm fell over much of the Rideau Valley Watershed between last Thursday through Saturday. This rain resulted in increased water levels and flows across the watershed over the Easter weekend. Conditions have now stabilized and water levels and flows are declining in all areas. The current forecast is calling for 10 to 20 mm of rain starting this evening and into Wednesday. The forecasted rain is not expected to significantly increase water levels or flows. April 29, 2019 - Unlike the Ottawa River Watershed which is currently experiencing historic high water conditions, the water levels and flows in the Rideau Valley Watershed are declining and approaching seasonal levels in all waterways except for Bobs Lake and Christie Lake. The current forecast indicates between 35 mm and 50 mm of rain could fall later this week. This rainfall will have limited impact within the watershed except for Bobs Lake and Christie Lake where levels will likely increase. May 21, 2019 – A FLOOD WATCH is being maintained for properties around Bobs Lake and Christie Lake. The water levels on Bobs and Christie Lakes continues to decline slowly, but the recent wet/cool weather has kept both lakes above average for this time of year. The current forecast indicates 10 mm of rain could fall this coming the weekend. This rainfall will likely slow down the rate of water level decline on Bobs Lake and Christie Lake. Water conditions along the lower Ottawa River from Arnprior to Gatineau have been slowly declining but will remain well above normal conditions for this time of year. Significant Rain in Forecast Will Again Cause Water Levels to Increase Across the Rideau Valley Watershed
The current forecast is calling for rainfall amounts of 50 to 65 mm, with possibly more, from Thursday to Saturday across the Rideau Valley Watershed which will cause water levels and flows to increase above current conditions throughout the watershed. Flood conditions are expected start on Friday or Saturday in many areas depending on where the rainfall occurs and total amounts received. Some specific areas of concern are highlighted below. Flood Warning Update #1 -- River Levels are now Causing Flooding in Some Low-lying Areas in Rideau Valley Watershed
March 31, 2019 – Significant precipitation this weekend combined with runoff from melting snow has increased water levels and flows in all waterways in the Rideau Valley Watershed. Although no significant precipitation is expected during the next few days, water levels and flows will likely continue to stay high in most areas due to on-going runoff from melting snow.
