Installers in Ontario are regulated by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH). In order to become a qualified and licensed installer in the province of Ontario the following must be completed.

  • Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing On-site Sewage Systems - 2006 Exam. Participants must register for their own exam at least 21 days before their preferred examination date.
  • Registration as an Installer with the Director of the Building and Development Branch. Registration fee is required.

The Directory of Registered Installers/Designers QuARTS is provided by the Ministry of Affairs and Housing.

Designers, please refer to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for qualification and licensing.

  Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association (OOWA)
   
 

OSSO is a member of the Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association (OOWA), which is dedicated to providing access to a large network of Onsite Wastewater Professionals throughout Ontario. OOWA members are at the front line of rural development, to support onsite systems as a viable permanent wastewater servicing option.

OSSO was a key presenter for the OOWA Regional Meeting for Eastern Ontario in 2011.

   
   Part 8 OBC On-Site Sewage System Installer/Inspector Course
 


To prepare for the On-Site Sewage System 2006 Exam the Ontario Rural Wastewater Centre offers a five day course. The course covers Part 8 of the OBC in preparation for the MMAH licensing exam. Course material will be supplemented with photographs and sketches. In addition, the course will introduce participants to approved alternative technologies. A tour of the ORWC demonstration facility is included; this facility has several technologies installed.

Tuition includes course manual, lunches and refreshments. Each participant must bring their own
copy of the Code and Guide for Sewage Systems which is Part 8 of the Ontario Building Code.
